Spurs' interest for striker ends after Brazilian agrees new deal

Sevilla have announced that striker Luis Fabiano has signed a contract extension with the club until the summer of 2013.

The Brazilian forward has been subject of intense transfer speculation for the majority of the summer, but the 29-year old has committed his future to los Nervionenses, ending interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Olympique Marseille.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp was extremely keen on the Brazilian international, who was in his last year of contract at the La Liga side.

But Fabiano, who joined the Spanish outfit from Porto in 2005, has put an end to links with a move away from the club by inking a two-year extension on his current deal at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Sevilla kicked their domestic campaign off in style on Saturday with a 4-1 away win over Levante to top the table and Fabiano was an unused substitute during Saturday's game.

But the 29-year-old, who helped Sevilla win two Uefa Cups, two Copa del Reys and the European and Spanish Super Cups, is expected to return to the starting line-up against Deportivo La Coruna next time out after having his future resolved.
