Jose Mourinho has distanced himself from succeeding Fabio Capello as England manager - because he feels the job belongs to an Englishman.

The Real Madrid coach has always stated his desire to return to England to manage after his glory days at Chelsea, but does not appear to be interested in the country's national post.

Mourinho, 47, won two Premier League titles at Chelsea between 2004-2007 before leading Internazionale to the Champions League last season.

He will be among the favourites for the England job when Capello retires after the Euro 2012 finals.

Mourinho was asked to take charge ofPortugal's forthcoming Euro 2012 qualifers against Denmark and Iceland this month, but Real apparently blocked the move.

"I think national teams are: England for the English and Portugal for the Portuguese," said Mourinho in an interview with the BBC.

"I will one day play against England with my Portugal, but Portugal has to wait a long time."
